softs! (school's out for the summer!)

Yeah!!!! Today is our last official day of school! Things are being wrapped up! John Samuel, Kenzie and I are mere pages away from the end of the gastropod chapter! (exciting reading my friends!) For a final project we have a worm box that we're going to build. {pictures to come!}Maggie is putting the finishing touches on her Nation Project Power Point presentation (try saying that three times in a row!) and Mckenzie tied the last ribbon on her Tag book. Mckenzie did this project all on her own. I provided the papers, ribbons and editing skills...she did all the cutting, writing, photo copying, assembling and decorating...:). She used envelopes as the pockets and each little tab tells you something about the book. The last one has her review of the book! She's so proud of it! So, all the math lessons are checked off, the credit hour logs are filled in and we're ready to shift into a lower gear. It's been a good year, a very good year. I still have paper work to fill out for our umbrella program, but for now we're reveling in our new found freedom! Hope your weekend finds you checking off some things on your list and finding time to revel! Enjoy!

Congratulations on the start of summer! we have two more weeks and I am so ready. I love your school posts because your assignments are so creative. ezra also has to write a paragraph on what he reads each night and a book report at the end but it is on notebook paper and not illustrated and tabbed and tied with ribbons to make a book - so clever! And somehow I get the feeling that even though school is over you will still continue to teach and explain, and point things out at every opportunity. thanks for the inspiration.

Hooray for summer!

I'm just loving the ribbon books ... can't wait to make some of our own! What a neat way for the kids to create a final product for their work.

I LOVE that tab book! Its very colorful and creative. I love that its something she'd want to keep. I went to public school and there's nothing I wanted to keep from it! lol! I'll add you to my Google Reader. I'm trying to convince my husband that we should homeschool our kids...they're not schoolaged yet, but soon will be. My two youngest brothers were homeschooled and I think they're a lot smarter than me....
