an update and my denial

Thanks for all the sweet comments on my newly completed Vine Bolero....and thanks for the honesty.  Seriously, I do not want to look granny-ish in any way...I put the broach away and I will pull it out when I hit my 90th birthday.  Whew!  That was a close one.  I also changed out the buttons. The others were a bit too small and they kept coming un-done.  I like the new ones much better.
We're knee deep in the middle of upheaval and change around here as I gear up to repaint a large portion of our house. (yes, school is a mere 3 weeks away and yes, I did a similar stunt last year and yes, I am obviously dense)  On Monday, I pulled the wallpaper down in the entry and hallway in a fit of sadness.  Kristyn and her family had been here visiting for a week and after their return home, I just couldn't handle their absence...so I did what anybody else would have done....I flung myself full force into a major redecorating project.
Denial, it's working great.  Although it doesn't wipe out the fact that we do miss them terribly. We had such a wonderful time visiting and catching up.  It's always a great time when our two families get together.  There's never a dull moment!
...but had I been thinking properly, I could have gotten some more mileage out of their visit if I had I given everyone paint brushes when they arrived.
I'll keep you posted on my project....today I'm choosing colors!

I'm so glad you and Kristyn had such a nice visit. Good friends are such a treasure and to have both of your families get along so well is a total bonus! I spent the beginning of summer painting and rearranging our house. I don't envy you all the work and headaches but when it's done I'm sure you will be so glad you did it!

I love the new buttons. Wish I could try on the bolero, it looks so very soft. Good luck with you project. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

Oh Lisa, such a sweet post about your family and missing friends. Wow, it does look like you have lots to keep your mind occupied! Will you be home schooling again this year?
Stop by 47th Street...your famous beverage is mentioned AGAIN ;)

Good luck with your color choice... I once had two swatches of color on our bedroom wall for almost a year before I decided which one I wanted! Love the buttons on the bolero... just the right touch!

Laughing here!!! :)
Hey, throwing yourself into a major decorating project sure makes you forget about missing your cherished friends that had to go home! :) I can totally relate to having that burst of energy to help soothe that ache!

The new buttons look so vintage cute. NOT 90ish..although I think you can get away with wearing a broach, without looking 90ish! :)

I love that photo of your two families together. What fun you guys must have had! I have to admit photos of all of you painting together would have been pretty fantastic too! :)

I was one who voted for the grandmotherly look! The buttons look wonderful too -- it's always good to have options.

I'm sorry you're having Kristyn withdrawal....She's a good egg (my father always used to say that -- and now I'm using that phrase). You definitely should have put that gang to work and taken on the role of supervisor. Every job needs a good supervisor. Good luck -- I'll look forward to seeing the "after" pictures.

Can't wait to see your house makeover. I remember your -painting before school began project, from last year.

I'm glad you went with the buttons. : ) That's what I voted for.

I'm looking forward to seeing your "new" entryway. We're in the middle of upheaval right now too: kitchen remodel. It's fun but tiring at the same time. : )

The buttons are great choice, Lisa! And I was for the brooch... but seeing the new buttons, it really works! Glad you had such fun with Kristyn & co. visiting. And now very exciting with your redecoration! I like the mocha-y colors you have there... can't wait to see what you choose and how it will all look. Good luck! :o) Happy Days ((HUGS))

I just love the sweater. I loved it before and now too, either way it worked for me. I totally get the wallpaper moment. That is something I do quite often. I find that I can get a lot accomplished when I just go for it.

Good luck with the colors. I hate choosing colors - what if I don't like it after it's done!

ok, so next time i expect to be asked to paint! we would SO have been excited to help with that.

i could take up pages with how difficult it has been this week. it seems to be getting harder to say goodbye. but so much sweeter, as well, anticipating the next hello. hugs to everyone there. and prayers for a profitable spruce up, and start to the new school year. go force!

LOVE the photo of your two families! You all look like you are having a blast - how awesome that your kiddos are such great friends too. Can't wait to see which color you choose and the results of your painting project. I'm nearly done painting and rearranging around here and i just love having a new color on the walls and a fresh feel in my house.

Your sweater is perfect with either buttons - you wear it beautifully!
