Praise!

Can't believe that Thanksgiving is this week! I've been busy here doing all the pre-holiday stuff that you are doing there. Grocery shopping, cleaning, washing sheets, choosing the best looking towels for our company, hiding piles that I don't want to deal with and baking. We put "The Beast" to sleep for the winter. The leaves are all up until next spring's clean up! I attended a baby shower this weekend and we had a wonderful dinner with some friends who are visiting in the area! I also got a neat answer to prayer this weekend.

Last spring, John and I got a new mattress and box spring for our bed. We moved our old mattress and box spring into the guest room, where we'd previously had a full size bed. I love the headboard that we have in there because it was my grandma's from when she was a young newlywed, so we decided to use it and the mattress and box spring just sat on the floor in front of the headboard. But I really wanted a queen bedframe to get the mattress and box spring off the floor. So, this summer, I prayed and asked the Lord to bless us with a queen bedframe. I really didn't want to spend money on one, I know people are always trying to get rid of stuff like that. I just didn't know anyone who had one. So I kept praying on and off about this bed frame. I checked Craig's list, I looked on ebay for our area, I drove slowly by yard sales scanning for one all summer long but,...nothing. I really wanted one for this upcoming weekend when our close friends would be coming to visit. Last week, as I was talking to the Lord, I told Him that I knew He wanted to bless us with a bedframe and it would be really great for Him to bless us with it soon! You know, time was ticking away. Well, Friday and Saturday went by in a blur and I really meant to go by a mattress place and check out what kind of bedframes they had, but I just never got around to it. Then on Sunday, my neighbor brought me over some material to make her son some Lounge Pants for Christmas (I know...I know) and we got to talking and for "some reason" I asked her if she happened to have a queen bedframe she might be looking to get rid of. Her mouth dropped open and she asked me if I was joking? I assured her that I wasn't and asked why she thought I would joke about something so random. She said, "We have one on our side porch laying there ready to go to Good Will." You could have knocked me over with a wet noodle. Can you believe it?! I screamed and told her my whole prayer saga and she cracked up! She was certain I had seen it laying on their porch and that I was just teasing her, that's why she thought I was joking. So, Sunday, John walked across the street and picked up the answer to my summer prayer! (for free!) Isn't God so good!!
Lest you think my house is perfectly neat and tidy, here's a shot of the other end of the bed...

The headboard is gorgeous!!! Now with the frame, your bed is complete. What a neat story.

That was such an uplifting story! My husband and I had a somewhat similar experience in getting a new (Sealy Posturepedic) matress and box springs many years ago. I prayed and waited, thanking the Lord for my mattress and box springs which He was going to provide. I won't give all the details here as it's a bit long, but He answered my prayer just as miraculously as He did your's.

Not only did the answered prayer meet our need (and desire, since I was specific of the kind of bed I wanted), it was a stepping stone in building a foundation of faith. Each time we see our prayers answered, we have more faith the next time we have a need.

Wow, what a great testimony of how God provides for our needs and answers our prayers!

I can relate to being busy getting ready for Thanksgiving. When you got to the 'hiding piles that you didn't want to deal with now' part, I cracked up. I thought I was the only one who did that. It's one of my specialties.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
