sweet things

One of our friends just recently had her first baby!  We haven't met sweet July yet, but wanted to send some baby love their way.  She and her husband just relocated to North Carolina because he is in the Marines.  I am hoping they get some precious time together as a family of 3 before he is deployed.
One of my favorite baby sweaters was sent along with a burp cloth and an embellished onesie.  The sweater pattern can be found here.  I used a washable yarn by Universal.  I made several of these last summer...they seem to be a fun summer knit for me.
Baby gifts really are just the best to send aren't they!?  Hope your week is filled with sweet things too!

Would this be a pattern that a beginner knitter could make? It's so sweet, and I'd love to give it a try, but after a couple of sad knitting failures, I feel nervous.

What a beautiful baby sweater - and your other gifts are lovely too. I really hope they will have time together before he has to go off somewhere.

Could you please share the size of the sweater. I have downloaded the pattern, but not sure if it is for newborn, or a bigger baby. I hope you can give me some help!!!

I have been thinking about knitting a pink sweater for my daughter-in-law's sister who is expecting her second little girl this fall. I might seriously consider this pattern because I like the unique open "holes" .

You applique beautifully? That is not something I enjoy doing, but I do like it when someone does it well.
