the scarf dilemma.....yes or no?

When we went to the beach this summer I found the best knit shop....organized, loaded and full of inspiration!  I bought the yarn for this mohair scarf with plans for it to be a gift, but as I've been knitting it, I've been questioning the 'giftability' of this particular scarf.
It's a bit off beat as far as scarves go. I like it.  It's soft and the colors are very fun.  But when I've shown it to some of my friends and family I get a mixed reaction.
They've made comments like : "Oh, that would be cute on someone younger...I think I'm too old for that style"
or "I like it, I'm just not sure I'd wear it, but it looks cute on you"
or my favorite: "It kinda reminds me of sausage links"
So, what do you think?  Go ahead...be honest, I can take it.

sausage links...but cute sausage. :) It doesn't look like it was designed for warmth....and when you live in Minnesota..... :)

I wasn't seeing sausage links....I think it is more a "fashion" scarf to wear with an outfit versus an outerwear-type-of-scarf. I'm liking it. You may be a real trendsetter (and to think, I knew you before you became famous in the fashion world!).

I chuckled over sausage links, and I think that since it looks so good on you, it should stay with you!

Love the new header!

It's very cute! I'D wear it (especially if it was in greens and browns). ; ) I think it's just a matter of it falling into the right hands...

I agree with the Jolly Bee...looks more like a fashion scarf.Would look cute with jeans,t-shirt, cardigan kinda look :o)I think I'd also like it all in the multi colored yarn you chose. It seems the 2 different yarns accents the "sausage look". I do like it though, different and definitely cute!

I agree with Jodi, looks like an outfit scarf, very cute and hip... which does kind of make it look like a gift for a younger person. Any young people in your life you can gift it too? It's very pretty!

I think your friend have it right - it's a fashion scarf. I think it looks good wrapped (maybe a few twists)like a loose necklace. Then you see a little bit of each of the yarns and you miss the sausage look.

I would say you have some HONEST friends...:) lol Gotta love em! I will admit I did have a little chuckle when I read they thought it looked like sausage links. I have never seen any scarf like it before, I agree with Jodi..you might become a trendsetter, seriously! I think you look cute in it. You go girl!! :)

I think it's FABULOUS! The colors are wonderful for one thing, and it's super stylish. A really fun accent piece. I may not be the right person to ask though, as I'm very much a scarf person--for function and for style equally. No on is ever too old for a fun scarf, not in my opinion. I say keep it for yourself and dazzle yourself with it. If you must knit another scarf, so be it. You've had a fab one here. Now, go rock that scarf! ;o) ((HUGS))

Me again... just had to say how much I adore the new banner... I could take a bite out of one of those candy canes. ;o) ((HUGS))

I understand you to say it is to be a gift...I think it would take a certain kind of person to wear this scarf. Yet, that certain kind of person would love it...I'm sure they would!

By the way, the Toms are comfortable for daily around town wear. They fit snug on the feet, not quite a squeeze though.

HONESTLY??? Personally, it's not my thing. Saugage links I wouldn't have thought of, but that IS what it reminds me of now that you said it. I suppose it would be cute with a gray sweater or something for a different kind of fashion thing! ? Sorry I couldn't have been more encouraging! :)

I think it's time for new friends and family! ;) Just fabulous... and I say that if it's not appreciated elsewhere, it looks better than fab on you. In fact I have to say that with it on you look much younger... :)

Blessings, Debbie

The sausage links comment made me snicker out loud! I think it's cute but I am more of the old fashioned, thick scarf look for me! :)

I was thinking "I love that scarf" before I even read your text. I can see where it might not be universally liked, but I love it. I want to knit myself one!
