Flying the nest...

We're heading to a basketball tournament in Lynchburg, VA.  It'll be a week full of hoops, friends and lots of memories.  Molly and Barbara are holding down the fort while we're gone.  I've got our bags packed and the water is loaded into the back of the van.  And guess what, I'm not taking any knitting!  {gasp}  Apparently knitting all those dishcloths (5 in one week) gave me a case of tendonitis and I've got to rest my thumb for a while......extreme knitting, who knew!?!  So instead of purling my way down the highway,  I'll be taking pictures and doing a little bit of reading.

As we fly the nest, I thought I'd leave you with some pictures of my lastest sewing project.  Lola.
Isn't she adorable? Gingercake has the cutest patterns and I made Lola the owl for my god-daughter.  I'm not sure whether she'll be gifted for Easter or Christmas....?  I already have requests for three others.  The directions and the pattern were easy to follow and I loved the fact that once I paid with Paypal, I received the pattern right to my computer.   She's got a cute little pocket on her back, perfect for tucking in secret love notes or gift cards.  With less than a yard of fabric, I've got a great gift and I'm certain there will be more feathered friends in my future.    Have fun checking out Virginia's website, it's full of great projects and patterns and enjoy the remainder of your week - 'Owl' be back soon!

Travelling but not knitting?! How does that work? Will the car even run without someone knitting inside?
I hope you have a great trip, and that your tendons recover very quickly. Your Owl is really cool.

Lola's adorable. I'm seeing more and more owls out there these days. I have been stuck in a crow rut for a while (owls and crows do not get along, you know!).

Best of luck with the tournament. Rest up that hand. I've been hooking rugs and I'm feeling a pain in my hand too (maybe arthritis?)

LOVE Lola the Owl! Funnily enough I've been doing owls lately too--some owl egg cozies, very fun. So sorry about your knitting though... Take is easy, rest and come back to the sticks renewed. :o) Have a GREAT trip... be safe, have fun! See you soon... ((HUGS))

I miss those days. I remember thinking of the relief I would feel when I wasn't traveling all over the state chasing down my basketball hero. Now he's a coach and it just wouldn't look right if his 'mommy' was at every game. His 'Daddy' and I do take in most of the home games though! :)

Have fun at the tournament, make loads of new memories and come home victorious once again! I am so sorry that your hand is acting up - knitting with cotton can be hard on the hands. Glad you'll be reading on the trip - there are so many great new books out there but it's so hard to find the time to read.

Lola is adorable - love the fabrics you chose! She's the perfect size and shape to snuggle with. I totally feel your pain in not knowing whether to save her for adventure project or gift her now - i'm so bad at waiting.

Wish your girl, the force, and the coach the best of luck!
