I couldn't make just one....

My mom wanted a pencil pouch to carry her pencils with her to church....so I made her this:
It's very basic. Nothing fancy or overly creative.  However, I needed some help with how to put in the zipper and while looking for directions that would work with my simple plan, I found this pattern.  Which led to this:
So, now I'm set with some gifts for the holidays....isn't it funny how one things leads to another?!
Special thanks to Vanessa who blogs over at Little Big Girl Studio for the free pattern.  She did a fabulous job with the directions.  These little pouches were so fun to make.... I guess that's obvious, by the fact that I couldn't make just one!

BEAUTIFUL!! I love how you stacked them, stood them, and sewed them! I love assembly line productions. It makes projects just fly by. You're SO creative and wise. Look at all that scrappy goodness you used up. I wanna be like you!!

Your pouches are amazing....I love them. I checked out the tutorial and I just may catch this bug. I'm such a copycat (I just finished making some Christmas cards like Kristyn made). You guys have excellent ideas.

Those are beautiful, lucky recipients! And I love the fact that your mother takes pencils to church. I often scribble notes on my order of service - things that come to me, references in the sermon, and so on.

I'm so glad you showed this today. This is perfect for a gift exchange I'm participating in. I figure if I set it up assembly line style, I'm all set. I might add some colored pencils and a tag that say "color your world". Thanks for the inspiration!

LOVE Them!!! I love the beige fabric on the tops and bottom outlining the colorful patterned fabrics. The quilting is a nice touch too!

oooOOO I LOVE the fabric on the one you made your Mom!

When I started graduate school a friend of mine turned me on to the simple idea of having a pencil pouch. I was just throwing everything into my purse, and what a pain. Mine is transparent though -- orange plastic with butterflies embossed on it, and it's triangular in shape so it sits upright. The see-through aspect has been super helpful to me so many times.

Still, it's not the same as a nice handmade bag from someone you love... :-)
