just because...

Kristyn gave me this cute pack of alphabet cards when she came and visited in July.  She picked them up at Archivers.  They are so fun and the teacher in me gets all warm and fuzzy when I flip through them.  (Aren't they adorable?!)
I put the cards away for a rainy day and for some inspiration to strike.  Well, this week I received this card in the mail from Kristyn. (isn't it adorable!?)  It was created with those very same cards that were marinating in my craft room studio.   (reminder to self: fill the cookie jar!)
Her card sparked the fire that I needed...which led to a spontaneous card making session because why not spread the warm and fuzzy feeling around?!
It is so fun to get a card in the mail as opposed to junk mail or bills.  I know how receiving a card brightens my day....it doesn't have to be handmade; any kind of card brings a smile to my face.  But apparently people are sending less mail than they ever have.  The postal service is planning to cut mail delivery to 5 days a week instead of 6.  I propose a plan to keep the postal service going and bring a smile to some one's face.   Send someone a card this week...just because!

Cards in the mail are the best! I always love going to the mailbox and getting the mail, even though it is rarely anything other than a bill or advertisement. What a lovely friend you have in Kristyn!

I'm warm and fuzzy all over. making cards, purposefully thinking of someone {and letting them know it}, going to the post office, and you. a few of my favorite things.

I received the loveliest "B" card in the mail today from that wonderful Kristyn. She's a keeper of a friend. I am still in awe over just how wonderful you bloggers are (and you can take credit for introducing me to Kristyn).

Australia has a 5 day service, although sometimes at the height of Christmas cards, we used to get two a day ... wonder if they do that anymore? Those cards are super cute.

Oh, I love your cards! They're just charming. I'm going to have to find a set of those alphabet flashcards--for preschooling Little Man, not for card making (yet)--they're perfectly sweet and simple. And thanks for the reminder that I have a card sitting on my end table waiting to be written in and mailed. : )

I love it! I received a card yesterday, and it just made my day! This weekend I'm giving Soulemama's Gratitude Wraps to two of my friends from college--so we can all resume writing to each other like we did in the time before email! (Did I just make myself sound like a dinosaur, or what?)

Oh, and I never commented on your last post (still not sure about Google reader), but I am loving your basket full of yarn and the projects you've got planned!

Those cards are soooo sweet--love those! My Mom was telling me about that proposal of reducing mail from 6 to 5 days a week back home there... Gotta keep sending the love! Thanks for sharing, and the good reminder! :o) Happy Days ((HUGS))

These came out wonderfully!
so sweet.
I know what you mean about the postal service. It is so nice to receive hand written notes in the mail - that is one of the reasons I started the handwritten newsletter.
Thanks for sharing.
Warm wishes, Tonya

Those are adorable flash cards!!! And I love the cards you made. I especially like the paper that looks like a chalk board. Those are almost obsolete these days.

I love getting real mail. I was thinking just yesterday how someone needs to invent a recycle bin that attaches to the mailbox so that the junk goes straight in. And it would already be by the curb for the recycle guy when he comes by.

But then I thought about how wasteful all that is and people should just stop sending junk mail. Then I thought how it is too bad I am not queen or something. :)

oh Lisa I must take you up on this and send a card (or several) this week. Love your cards! i, too, was fortunate enough to receive a card from Kristyn - and it brightened my day when i stood over the trash and tossed all the junk mail only to be left with Kristyn's card and a House Beautiful magazine - a wonderful mail day indeed.

That Kristyn is very sweet...just like her cards!
I love sending and receiving snail mail (still)! I agree with you, there is nothing like opening the mailbox to discover a card or letter to brighten my day!
I regularly send mail to my family due to them all living so far away from me. I hope it brings a spark of happy to their day.
Great post!

Lisa, those cards are cute as can be and what a great idea you have. I too love getting mail as well as I like to surprise someone with mail. I really try hard to send thank yous even when not expected. I like your idea to spread the "warm fuzzy" around!

I love your cards. I've been known to send what my daughter calls third tier holiday cards. For instance Halloween and Thanksgiving. It's fun to dream up something easy to make. I do my best to keep the US Mail alive.
