snappy sunday sewing

Saturday was busy with mulching the yard in the morning and then attending graduations and parties well into the night.  We are almost finished with the new beds that we're putting in the yard and I was so thankful to go sit and enjoy the graduations after working all morning in the hot, humid yard.  And of course, I love parties so it was fun to visit and catch up with everyone.
 Sunday found me with some time to sit and sew.  The girls had been asking for some snappy fabric cuffs for themselves as well as one for a birthday gift.  I had ordered the snaps awhile ago and the fabric was in a pile just waiting to be cut and turned into cuffs.
I was tickled to get a couple of hours to myself to sew and create.  It was the perfect storm....time to myself in the craft room studio and occupied family members elsewhere!  These cuffs are so quick and satisfying to churn out.  And of course, I couldn't make only the 3 that were requested. I had to go into mass production.
But really, isn't it just as easy to make 8 as it is to make 3?  I mean, one never knows when there might be a sudden surge in snappy fabric cuff interest and this way I'll be ready.  You understand, don't you?
{The pattern for the Snappy Fabric Cuffs comes from the book Sew Darn Cute! by Jenny Ryan.  It's a great book full of very doable and usable projects.}

My boys had on a bracelet the other that someone's mama had made, and they loved it. I need to make them a few for summer, something to spice up the shorts and t-shirts uniform for this time of year :)

Too cute! (Again!) Another idea to tuck away--that spare time will show up eventually!

Oh my! This is too ironic! I made some doll clothes this past week for a friend's daughter and was re-inspired to order some snaps from that site you had mentioned before. That led to a bunny trail of thought yesterday about the bracelets and wondering if you all had been wearing them. Then you stopped by my blog (thank you!) and when I click back over to yours...here is this post on bracelets again! Yay! These are so pretty! You could use them to decorate.

Have you made any doll clothes for 18" dolls? All the "store bought" ones come with Velcro and all the patterns for them call for it, too. But the Velcro gets caught in the dolls' hair, especially if it is styled in braids or anything tight, and I have other issues with the stuff, personally, and just prefer snaps. All the types of snaps and setters I've tried from the fabric store are difficult to work with.

The point of this very long story is: I need to get around and order some from the place you mentioned.

LOVE, love, love those cute bracelets--and those jazzy fabrics! Sounds like a sweet weekend. We had the most gorgeous weather here all weekend, we made the most of it working in the garden--muscles feeling it now... ouch... LOL! Happy new week :o) ((HUGS))

Love the cute snap bracelets and I think you were wise to stash afew for a birthday present or other celebration. Tiffani mentions a place where you can order the snaps - can you also order the eyelets you used o the drawstring bag? I've been looking all over for them. We have very few fabric craft store options around here.

Love all the great stitching you do on these. I need to order some of these snaps too. I just wore mine this weekend with jeans and a white tee - it looks great with my watch. I'm still wearing jeans even though it's warm because i'm a farmer girl now and I make far too many trip to tractor supply! Funny but I was not thrilled when tractor supply open here right by ace hardware and lowes and walmart because what i really need is a target or a trader joe's so that i can stop driving so much for food. but these days i am eating my words - i Love tractor supply and have bought food and supplies for all our pets there - i've shopped a lot this week. Have a wonderful week! we start summer next week.

How fun these are! I was thinking about making some for my 13 year old sister. Thinking about making things is about as far as I seem to get these days. Thanks for your inspiring thoughts about the refreshment of creating.
