neighborly news: a finished knit, blessings and a give away!

I finished my grown up girl neighborly a while ago and have worn it several times.  I love it!  Larissa sent me the yarn and the pattern (quite a neighborly gesture wouldn't you say?!?) and I started it before Christmas.  But, with all of  the holiday finishing, it got put aside until after the holidays.  That actually worked out great as this sweater turned out to be the 'best riding to basketball game' knitting ever.
I was thinking it was going to be a be a bit short on me, but some aggressive blocking helped with the length.  If you've never knit yourself a garment before, I highly recommend this one.  It's fast and simple with no seaming whatsoever.  And the noro yarn makes for fun knitting as you get to the end.  Thanks Larissa for blessing me with such a fun project.

The knitty gritty:
Yarn: Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride Worsted - 2 skeins ~ Chocolate Souffle
Noro Kureyon- 2 skeins ~ #156
Needles: US 8 circulars and US 6 size double pointed needles
Size: Medium
Mods: None...I knit it just like Larissa wrote it!

In other neighborly news, I've been blessed recently with some tremendous gifts from some of my wonderful friends:
~a special mini quilt made from vintage linens from Jodi of Jolly Bee
~some adorable sachets and yummy fabric from Larissa of Stitches in Play
~and a package full of goodies and this too cute for fingers hand-towel from Kristyn of Kristyn Knits
I love every one of them.  So in the spirit of being neighborly...and because I've been so blessed..."Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows~ James 1:17" .....I thought it would be fun to have a little neighborly give away.  Just leave a comment sharing one of the blessings in your life and I'll enter your name for a chance to win a perfect box pouch and a snappy fabric cuff!  I'll pick a name March 1st!  Enjoy the blessings in your life...both the big and the small.
***oh and Grasshopper...I don't have your email address so if you could email that to me or leave it in the comments, I'll make sure you have a napkin swap partner.  Thanks!

The sweater looks great on you! And oh, a giveaway! Let's see, I'd say my greatest blessing is my 36-yr. old daughter, Beth. She's also my best friend too! xo,

Your neighborly turned out so great! I'm wearing mine today, so I'm feeling the neighborly love today, too. Even as two of my three greatest blessings are arguing and squealing over the whereabouts of the remote control, I am trying to remember to be so grateful for them. We had an early dismissal today, so they are really getting under each other's skin!

I love visiting your blog for creative inspiration. Your sweater turned out great! I'm just a beginning knitter, but I hope to make that sweater for myself someday. My greatest blessings are, of course, my two beautiful boys. :) Thanks for the opportunity to win such cute prizes.

today I'm especially thankful for friends. friends who you can: lean on, rely on, go to for comfort, confide in, learn from, get inspiration from, learn from, cry with, laugh with, be yourself with, be completely honest with, and love on...friends like you!

Wonderful sweater -- how very sweet of Larissa. And of course, Kristyn's handiwork is lovely too. Let's see -- right now, I'm extremely fortunate to have all my kiddos under one roof. As that day in August looms, when my oldest heads off to college, I'm not taking one more minute for granted. And thank you for your generosity.

Your sweater turned out beautifully! I've never knitted a sweater before but I'll definitely have to give it a go!

There are so many blessings in my life! The ones that are at the top of my list are my hard-working dairy farm husband, my 4 precious children, and the new baby blessing due in July!

Wow, that sweater is beautiful, and I love the short sleeves. I've still never made myself a sweater and think I might give this one a try. Well after I finish a few other projects :)

My greatest blessing would be my family. Thanks for the giveaway, I love that cuff!

Your neighborly looks so very good on you! i'm so glad you're getting lots of use out of it.

As for the blessing - something i was upset about turned out to be a blessing today. I had intended to drive my kiddos to school and head on over to the quilt show in Hampton an hour away but abigail has an ear infection now - after only one day at school - and so we stayed home and i missed the quilt show. But spending the day cuddling and talking with and listening to music with my girlie turned out to be a blessing - she was so sweet and thoughtful because she had no brothers to compete for my time with and no one to argue with and we had a wonderful day. so what started out as a dissappointment turned out to be a blessing!
Hey girl, is today your birthday?

The sweater is just lovely and it looks great on you!

The Lord has been so amazing with pouring down blessings...but if I had to point one out will be ~ how He is guiding me through this new journey - no shopping for a whole year! This has been the hardest decision I have had to make, but since it is His will, I am at peace and there is the greatest blessing I could have!

Your neighbours are just wonderful!

The Neighborly sweater turned out beautifully!

Greatest Blessing - The Cute Guy. I'm feeling it especially at this time, as tomorrow we're heading to Chicago to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary. So many other blessings have entered my life because I was blessed with him entering my life, such as my four beautiful kids.

I love the knitting you have done! I, too, knit! I haven't made adult sweaters, yet, but I have made baby sweaters! :) Right now I am working on an afghan for my sister and her husband! :)

Thanks so much for a fun giveaway! I'm awfully lucky I dropped by for the chance! :)

lovely sweater! and what sweet 'neighbors'! :) One of the biggest blessings in my life right now is peace between my husband and I. Not that we were headed toward disaster or anything, but we were in a rocky phase for a while. Recently, though, we've both been making efforts to be better toward each other, and God has been faithful to keep us going!

Your sweater is beautiful!! What a talented lady you are!

My greatest blessing is that God loves me inspite of my flaws. And that he has placed people in my life for me to show his love to also (my daughters, and grand kids to name a few). I am so thankful for a loving husband who shares this journey with me!

I love the new sweater!! I especially like the stripes at the bottom - very pretty! I always have problems with clothes being long enough - especially shirts! =0) I guess I should look into making my own . . . maybe then, I'll get a better fit! =0)

Miss you guys!
