Snappy Fabric Cuffs

I've had these snappy fabric cuffs waiting to be finished for almost a month now.  Kristyn and I each sewed them when she was here in December.  We used my walking foot and got to experiment with some different quilting patterns.  Some are geometrical and some a bit more free flowing.  They've been sitting on my desk just waiting for the snaps.

The pattern is in the book Sew Darn Cute!  I'm pretty frugal when it comes to sewing/knitting/craft books.  If it doesn't have at least several patterns or projects that I want to make in it, then I'll just check the book out of the library.  But this book...had more than several projects that I'm wanting to make!  And Jenny Ryan does a great job with directions and tips that make the project very doable.

These bracelets were fun to make and the snaps just put them right over the edge.  I ordered the snaps and the snap setting tool from The Snap Source.  They have so many color choices to choose from.  Once I sat down and read the directions for attaching the snaps it was no trouble at all.

I wore one of the cuffs on Saturday.  My mom saw it and wanted to know if it was the new thing.  Who knows?  But it sure was cute and snappy looking!  Mckenzie is having her basketball team over for a birthday sleepover on Saturday and she's requested these for each of the girls as party favors.  Guess I'd better get busy!?!

What a fabulous project! What a fun canvas for exploring fabric and stitching combinations. Oooh ... or how about some embroidery?

I stood and debated over buying this book for quite some time at the store around Christmas time, but tend to do the same thing - borrow from the library as much as possible instead. It's great to read a personal review of it. I'd love to hear what else you try out of it and what you think.

Those cuffs are great! I made one last month--it still needs a button--but I'm too scared to wear it. (I'm a dork.)

We should all make one and pick a day to wear it--then it will be the "new thing"!

All the fabrics are so cute! Well done!

I have seen the Snap setting tool before and have been thinking about trying it out - I have heard good things about it.

These are so wonderful! I'm with Meg - we should make these the "new thing." LOVE the colors you chose - totally brighten up any outfit. I've never used snaps either but now I want to. And that final photo is my favorite - you wear it so well!

These are just great! I think that they would like really nice if you add things to them...almost to look like a bracelet but made from fabric :)

They are definitely the new trend -- and you're right there leading the way. Isn't it awesome being a trend-setter? (I wouldn't know this....I'm a couple years behind the times!). Anyhow, they turned out great. I can see why your daughter would want them as a party favor.

Oh! Oh! Another FUN project! Those are just as cute as can be. Take me back several years and I can just see my daughters asking me to make those for friends for a sleepover. Those were the days. (embrace & enjoy!)

It looks quite chic on YOU too! (is that you?) :)

great job with the finishing touches to a project that i so thoroughly enjoyed watching you and kristyn start. your finished product looks awesome! you know when you taste something that someone has made for you. something you have tried other places before, but theirs just tastes so much better than the others?! it makes you wonder, or ask the question, "what is it, that makes it taste so good?" i believe that relationship is the spice that adds just that extra something special to any handmade creation. whether it is expreienced during the creative process, or in the giving of the tangible creation, relationship makes the experience that much sweeter. thank you for sharing in the creative part with kristyn. and the spice and sweetness certainly shows in your photos. the girls will love them!

i love the cuffs! they are so sweet. my daughter would love them too. I have thought about knitting some, but sewing would be much faster. I even have a snap press, don't you love them?
About your vest, just take out the seaming, if there is any and rip it apart. I never soak the yarn before i knit up something else, but always do a full wet block by soaking in cool water for at least ten minutes. it gets out all the kinks! let me know how you make out!
