home again, home again, jiggity-jig

We've been on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina for the week. It was a wonderful time spent with friends the family kind. The weather was gorgeous all week long! We couldn't have ordered better weather! We relaxed, laughed and had a wonderful time catching our breath! Here's a glimpse of some of the souvenirs we collected from the week. Trust me, this was just a glimpse...there were 4 adult photographers with cameras all week long. We took a seriously huge amount of pictures. But I guess that's what memories (and digital cameras) are for....capturing! Hope you captured some memories this week too. I'll be back the beginning of next week with some stitching to share! In the meantime, I've got some catching up to do around here!

Beautiful photos! We had a holiday there years ago which was memorable because there was so much rain that the whole island flooded and had to be evacuated! Glad to hear you had a sunnier time...

John –

As we’ve been speaking over the past several weeks about issues regarding our bank account with RIFC I feel your concern. It has been a trying experience for both of us in working with RIFC J I’m sure glad that God gives us the grace that He does – and I’m glad that we can give grace to others as well J I’m also glad that these hiccups are occurring at a time when we have no banking needs to take care of J

When I called you at work last Thursday to tell you the good news that our Pastor was at PNC right then and had called me for your home address we were both excited about having some progress finally being made. The bank needed your home address to know where to send the bank statements to. As I said to you then, I would make sure I asked our Pastor what the church’s TIN was so we could have access to online banking. When I called our Pastor back at the bank I was informed that online banking for our account (and any of the church’s accounts) would cost $50/month per account. This was a shock to our Pastor as well as to me.

And I have to admit here that I’m ignorant about online banking – my family currently does not do any banking online and never has. I thought that online banking involved things like having online access to your account information, having your paycheck directly deposited, and being able to pay certain bills (mortgage, utilities, etc.) online. Could someone explain exactly what online banking provides? And what the advantages to the Frederick Warriors would be? Would we be able to pay bills online for purchases at stores like Glade Valley AllSports (where we’ve purchased our uniforms from), or Wal-Mart (where we’ve purchased our basketballs from), etc.? It would help me tremendously if I could understand exactly how the Warriors will be using online banking and what types of transactions will occur.

I appreciate your willingness to serve as Treasurer (especially since I’ve served as Treasurer for the past 6 years J) and as President of the Board I want to make your job as easy as possible. I have no issues using another bank where online banking is free. And I agree wholeheartedly about keeping the Warriors under RIFC for ministerial accountability. So if we decide to pursue another bank for the Warriors we would have to seek RIFC’s approval as you suggest. However, if RIFC does not approve this arrangement I believe we have to pray about what our next steps are. In terms of priority, having the Warriors under a trusted ministry for accountability is much more important that having the ability to do online banking.

I’ll send out some potential meeting dates to the Board shortly.
